Data & APIs
Umlimisi runs two live data feeds today. One is open; the other is available on request.
1. NAMBoard Market Prices Open
Weekly buying prices for 54 commodities, normalised from NAMBoard's publicly available EHIS portal. Updated hourly, history back to April 2026. No signup needed — this is open data.
Base URL: https://api.ekukhulenilabs.co.za
Try it now:
GET /commodities → 54 commodities NAMBoard buys, with category and AGROVOC identifier (where resolved)
GET /market-prices/namboard/latest → This week's full buying-price dataset (67 records) Each record: commodity, grade, price (SZL), unit, validity period, provenance metadata
Filter and paginate:
GET /market-prices/namboard/history?commodity=tomato&limit=10 → All tomato price records across every week, most recent first, paginated
Every response includes source_name, source_url, official_api: false, and a full attribution string. Fields follow ISO 8601 dates, ISO 4217 currency (SZL), and UN/CEFACT unit codes where applicable.
Full field reference and OpenAPI spec available on request.
2. Aggregated Farm Data By request
Two endpoints serving aggregate, PII-free summaries of what Eswatini's farmers are growing and what crop/livestock health issues are appearing — rolled up by crop, region, and time period. No individual farmer identity is ever included in the payload.
- Area planted summary — farmer-entered planting cycles, aggregated by crop, region, and month (area in hectares, cycle count).
- Disease report — AI-assisted crop and livestock diagnoses, aggregated by crop/animal, matched pest or disease term, and region, over a trailing window (default 7 days, up to 90).
These feeds are designed for extension services, research institutions, development partners, insurers, and government programmes that need aggregate agricultural intelligence without accessing individual farm records.
